Our Approach
What to Expect

The MRC utilizes a detailed program which begins with the initial telephone intake.

On your first visit you will meet with a Master's level Marriage and Family Therapist who will begin the evaluation process. This process combines history taking from each member of the couple in both individual and couple sessions. We find that this process allows us to get to know each member of the couple from an individual aspect, as well as the relationship aspect.

The next step is the treatment planning session in which both the client and counselor decide what parts to target in order to help meet client goals.

Connection

Our Philosophy

The MRC utilizes the biopsychosocial model to information gathering. This process takes a look at all aspects of the individual and family (couple) system from the inside-out.

We believe in acceptance and non-judgment of all. The counselor's role is that of a neutral guide, not a "side taker." The most modern techniques and interventions are utilized including: Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Gottman Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. Many of these interventions focus on the present, while helping the client understand the past in a new light.

Peace

A Safe Zone

The MRC practices acceptance and non-judgement of all. We welcome individuals of any race, age, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation. We promise to do everything in our power to provide a safe, welcoming environment for you, your significant other, and your family.

If your background is different than that of your counselor we encourage you to bring in literature, photos, etc. to help us get to know and understand every aspect of you as a unique individual.
